Each technological revolution has its supporters and opponents. At present, we are witnesses to progressing changes in motorization, which are electrifying and their effects may surprise the world.
Not many people know that prior to commencement of domination of petroleum companies, humanity pined its great hopes on electric vehicles. They were mainly trams, trains but also tractors and cars. Density of energy of a lead-acid battery, used at that time, compared to a barrel of fuel turned out to be a barrier. For this reason, fates of the world are different and today humanity is dependent on fossil fuels. Despite this fact, a wind of changes can be seen on the horizon. New types of battery are the reason for this.
Hybrid cars - the first stage of changes
More than twenty years ago the world got to know Toyota Prius. At the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries, the first generation of the hybrid car seemed to be a concept vehicle with a cosmic technology inside. At that time, a large group of sceptics who could see a risk in the batteries appeared. They were afraid of their life and impact on the natural environment. After many years, it turned out that the hybrid drive is efficient, durable and safe for users.
Race of hybrid constructions
Today, every car manufacturer which wants to weigh in the motorization market has in its offer a hybridized car to some extent. Lower fuel consumption, possibility of charging the car from a socket or charging station, as well as increased dynamics attract customers to showrooms. We witness a race of hybrids in advertising prospects, on racing tracks of the whole world and from this year also on special stages of rally world championships!
Motorsport is a testing ground for manufacturers
From the beginning of development of motorization car races and rallies indeed were those sports disciplines which helped in development of technology. If a gearbox, drive train or tyres endure extreme conditions, we have a solid base for developing civil components. Therefore, producers from all over the world actively expose their teams to rivalry. The most difficult special stages of Argentina, emotional fight on the Circuit De La Sarthe track in France, where once a year we are witnesses to a 24-hour race. All this makes an impression and has an impact on daily life!
Biofuels, hydrogen and sockets - is future bright?
A technological revolution in motorization is a fact and it will most probably take place in a number of fields. First, biofuels and hydrogen which demonstrate their effectiveness end up in motorsport. Electric cars also become more and more popular. They may be treated as gadgets for the time being. They are fitted more for the role of a vehicle available in a rent-a-car office rather than a full-time family car, however progress in development of infrastructure for charging and battery capacity causes that we can travel by electric cars all over Europe further and further and safer. Now, it seems that these three directions will predominate in development strategies of motorization companies.
Diversity as a key to success!
Declared departure from combustion cars by an increasing number of motorization companies is a courageous step. Other entities which function in the market must adapt to such changes. Conventional vehicles will remain on our streets for a long time yet. That is why, to ensure access to services for innovative drives and at the same time to remember about users of conventional engines, a diverse offer is needed. A company which will faster determine a development direction based on innovative technologies and support of current Customers will gain advantage over other entities. One of such pioneers is TotalEnergies. For several years, the Concern has been preparing itself for transformation which will take place in the whole motorization industry to continuously offer top-quality products.
