DGR (“The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride”) is a global rally for motorcyclists having classic and historic machines. The main objective is to raise funds and raise awareness for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health. ELF is one of the global partners in this regular event.
DGR rallies are organised worldwide on the same day. The last meeting in Poland took place on 22 May 2022. The events took place simultaneously in Kraków, Poznań, Warsaw, and Wrocław.
The Australian way
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride was founded in Sydney, Australia, by Mark Hawwa who sought to challenge the negative stereotype of men on two-wheelers that were often associated with biker gangs. The final inspiration was to a photo of the television series Mad Men showing Don Draper, the protagonist, sitting on a classic motorcycle in his best suit. Donald Francis Draper is a fictional character of the AMC television series Mad Men (2007-2015).

This is how you break stereotypes
The idea of classic machines, impeccable manners, and carefully selected attire was met with enthusiasm. In 2012, around 3000 participants showed up at the first event (which was organised simultaneously in 64 cities). In 2013, there were over 11,000 participants. At that time, the first funds for cancer prevention goals were raised. Currently, rallies take place simultaneously throughout the world and they are attended on average by over 50,000 people. The total raised funds ranged from 3 to 6 million dollars. The fundraising and health campaign are handled by The Movember Foundation – the world’s largest men’s health organisation. In particular, the foundation raises funds for state-of-the-art research into prostate cancer and mental health and suicide prevention programmes.
